43rd Annual Binghamton
Geomorphology Symposium

The Field Tradition in Geomorphology
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA
September 21-23, 2012

The 43rd Annual Binghamton Geomorphology Symposium will be held in Jackson Hole, WY, the weekend of 21-23 September 2012.  This year's theme will be "The Field Tradition in Geomorphology" and will provide a forum for reflecting upon the historical development of our discipline, honoring the key contributions of a number of field-based geomorphologists who have recently passed away, and considering the role of field work as geomorphology moves forward into a new, more technologically-driven, computationally intensive era.

The symposium will be held at the Snow King Resort in Jackson and will feature two all-day field trips: a raft trip down the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park led by Jack Schmidt, Richard Marston, Susannah Erwin, and Carl Legleiter; and an overview of the Quarternary geology and glacial history of the Jackson Hole region led by the USGS' Ken Pierce.  The meeting will consist of oral presentations, invited poster presentations, and an open poster session.  Confirmed speakers include Mike Church, Josh Roering, Ellen Wohl, and Jack Vitek, with posters given by David Butler, Ben Crosby, Ron Dorn, Judith Haschenburger, Arjun Heimsath, Frank Magilligan, Yvonne Martin, Dave Montgomery, Herve Piegay, Doug Sherman, and Markus Stoffel; additional presenters will be added to the program as well.  Conference attendees and especially graduate students also are encouraged to submit abstracts for an open poster session.

This year's Binghamton is being organized by Carl J. Legleiter of the University of Wyoming and Richard Marston of Kansas State University.  For additional information about the meeting, travel to Jackson, and online registration (coming soon), please explore this web site or contact the organizers via email: Carl.Legleiter@uwyo.edu or rmarston@k-state.edu.
